THE FOUNDER BEHIND HQQUILT: TURNING ART INTO A WAY OF SERVING LIFE

The story of HQQuilt does not begin in fashion capitals or major cities. Instead, it starts in Kim Son, Ninh Binh—a rural region where traditional craftsmanship has been part of everyday life for generations.
Rather than following conventional paths, the founder of HQQuilt chose a different direction: bringing quilting—an art form still relatively unfamiliar in Vietnam—into daily life as a meaningful and accessible experience.
“At the beginning, there was no grand plan,” he recalls. “It was simply a desire to create something more meaningful—something with soul.”

From small pieces of fabric, carefully stitched together with patience and intention, the first HQQuilt products were born. Quietly, without chasing trends, these creations carried something difficult to define—an emotional warmth and authenticity that mass-produced goods often lack.
Yet, the greatest challenge was not in making the products, but in bringing them to market. At a time when quilting was still unfamiliar to most Vietnamese consumers, convincing people to appreciate and embrace something different was no easy task.
Instead of positioning quilting as an exclusive, high-end craft, the founder made a pivotal decision: to scale production while preserving the spirit of handmade artistry. HQQuilt transitioned from small-scale crafting to a workshop-based production model—balancing efficiency with authenticity.
It was not a simple choice. Scaling production often risks losing the “soul” of a product. How do you grow while maintaining artistry? How do you produce consistently without sacrificing emotional value?
For him, the answer lies in people.

“Machines can assist, but they cannot replace emotion. We build our team not just to produce, but to understand and create value.”
From a small group, HQQuilt has grown into a workshop of dozens of artisans and workers, many of whom are from the local community. For them, this is not just a job—it is an opportunity to stay connected to meaningful work within their hometown.
Along the journey, a clear philosophy has taken shape: business is not only about profit, but about service.
The founder believes that the value created by a business should extend beyond products—to customers, employees, the community, and society as a whole.
“Our customers bring us profit, and we believe it is our responsibility to return that value in a more meaningful way.”
This philosophy of “giving and receiving” is reflected in how HQQuilt operates—from selecting materials thoughtfully, to building a stable working environment, to designing products that allow customers to form emotional connections with what they use every day.
In an increasingly competitive market—especially with the influx of low-cost imported goods—HQQuilt does not compete on price. Instead, it remains committed to differentiation through value.
“We may not be the cheapest option. But we strive to be the most worthwhile one.”
Today, alongside its domestic presence, HQQuilt is gradually expanding into international markets, particularly the United States—where quilting has a long-established cultural foundation. This is not just a business opportunity, but a broader ambition: to place Vietnamese quilting on the global map.
For the founder, this is not a short-term goal, but a long-term journey.

“We are not just selling products. We are telling a story—about people, culture, and how something small can create something meaningful.”
In a world that is increasingly fast-paced and saturated with choices, HQQuilt’s story may not be loud. Yet its consistency, authenticity, and human-centered approach are quietly shaping a distinct identity—one where art does not stand apart from life, but becomes an integral part of it.
